Supramolecular Assembly of Organophosphonate Diesters Using Paddle-Wheel Complexes: First Examples in Porphyrin Series
2014
The reactions of dicopper tetrapivalate complex Cu2(μ-OOC-t-Bu)4(NCMe)2 (1) with triphenylphosphine oxide and diethyl phosphite allow paddle-wheel (PW) copper(II) complexes with phosphorus-containing axial ligands (2, 3) to be obtained. When meso-bis(diethoxyphosphoryl)porphyrins 4M were employed in this ligand exchange reaction, a series of one-dimensional (1D) homo- and heterometallic coordination polymers 5M composed of PW subunits and organophosphonate diesters were prepared and characterized by means of single crystal X-ray analysis. Planar porphyrinate 4Pd and nonplanar metalloporphyrinates 4Cu and 4Ni proved to be appropriate molecular structural blocks for assembly of coordination p…
Electrochemical and spectroscopic studies of poly(diethoxyphosphoryl)porphyrins
2011
Abstract The synthesis and electrochemical characterization of two related series of porphyrins bearing diethoxyphosphoryl groups are reported. One group of compounds is represented as (T( p -R)PP)M where R = phos = P(O)(OEt) 2 and M = Zn(II) or H 2 while the other is represented as (di( p -R)Pdi(phos)P)M where R = P(O)(OEt) 2 , H or CH 3 and M = Zn(II) or H 2 . Each porphyrin was investigated by electrochemistry and thin-layer spectroelectrochemistry in CH 2 Cl 2 , CDCl 3 , CHCl 3 or PhCN containing tetra- n -butylammonium perchlorate (TBAP) as supporting electrolyte. The highly electron-withdrawing P(O)(OEt) 2 groups lead to easier reductions and harder oxidations than the two comparison …
Dynamic Magnetic and Optical Insight into a High Performance Pentagonal Bipyramidal Dy(III) Single-Ion Magnet
2017
The pentagonal bipyramidal single-ion magnets (SIMs) are among the most attractive prototypes of high-performance single-molecule magnets (SMMs). Here, a fluorescence-active phosphine oxide ligand CyPh2PO (=cyclohexyl(diphenyl)phosphine oxide) was introduced into [Dy(CyPh2PO)2(H2O)5]Br3⋅2 (CyPh2PO)⋅EtOH⋅3 H2O, and combined dynamic magnetic measurement, optical characterization, ab initio calculation, and magneto-optical correlation of this high-performance pseudo-D5h DyIII SIM with large Ueff (508(2) K) and high magnetic hysteresis temperature (19 K) were performed. This work provides a deeper insight into the rational design of promising molecular magnets.
New chiral α-aminophosphine oxides and sulfides: an unprecedented rhodium-catalyzed ligand epimerization
2001
International audience; New chiral α-aminophosphine oxide N,P(O) and sulfide N,P(S) ligands have been prepared in one-pot syntheses by addition of Ph2PH to (S)-PhCH[double bond, length half m-dash]NCH(Ph)CH3, followed by oxidation with O2 or S8. Crystallization from cold methanol leads to the isolation of an enantiomerically pure single N,P(O) diastereomer and to a 1 : 1 mixture of the two N,P(S) diastereomers. The coordination chemistry of these ligands with [RhCl(COD)]2 and [RhCl(CO)2]2 has been investigated under argon and syngas. At high temperatures, a P–C oxidative addition of the N,P(O) ligand followed by imine elimination leads to several hydrido rhodium species. The complexes conta…

Abstract. Aerosol mass spectrometers (AMS) are frequently applied in atmospheric aerosol research in connection with climate, environmental or health-related projects. This is also true for the measurement of the organic fraction of particulate matter, still the least understood group of components contributing to atmospheric aerosols. While quantification of the organic and/or inorganic aerosol fractions is feasible, more detailed information about individual organic compounds or compound classes can usually not be provided by AMS measurements. In this study, we present a new method to detect organic peroxides in the particle phase in real-time using an AMS. Peroxides (ROOR') are of high i…
P-chirogenic secondary phosphine oxides : new synthesis and applications
2015
A new stereoselective synthesis of phosphinous acid boranes is described by hydrolysis of aminophosphines boranes prepared by reaction of the oxazaphospholidine complex derived from ephedrine with organolithium reagents.By reaction with a strong acid, the phosphinous acid boranes lead to the corresponding P-chirogenic secondary phosphine oxides in very good yields (90%) and with complete retention of the configuration at the phosphorus atom. The secondary phosphine oxides have been used in asymmetric hydrogenation and intramolecular Heck cyclisation using rhodium and palladium complexes, respectively. In a second part, a new synthesis of P-chirogenic ortho-halogenophenyl phosphine oxides is…
In situ generation of Ph3PO in cyanido-bridged heterometallic {FeIIILnIII}2 molecular squares (Ln = Eu, Sm)
2019
Two new examples of cyanido-bridged {FeIIILnIII}2 molecular squares, with pyim and PPh3O as capping ligands at the LnIII sites, exhibit weak antiferromagnetic interactions [Ln = Eu (1), Sm (2), pyim = 2-(1H-imidazol-2-yl)pyridine, PPh3PO = triphenylphosphine oxide].
Fast preparation and gas-chromatographic separation of lanthanide and actinide hexafluoroacetylacetonates
1986
A fast method for the separation of lanthanide elements by gas chromatography of their hexafluoroacetylacetonates is described. Individual lanthanides can be isolated within a few minutes, and the whole group can be separated in less than 10 min. The hexafluoroacetylacetonates are applied in form of mixed complexes with tri-n-butyl phosphate or trioctylphosphine oxide prepared by fast extraction into quasi-solid solvents. The applicability of this method for the separation of trivalent actinide elements is shown, including the fast preparation of thin counting samples.
Light-responsive hybrid material based on luminescent core-shell quantum dots and steroidal organogel
2016
We report the synthesis of a smart novel hybrid with reversible photoswitchable luminescence properties modulated by light. The combination of a low molecular weight organogelator (LMOG) and CdSe/ZnS core-shell semiconductor nanoparticles capped with trioctylphosphine oxide ligands produces a luminescent, stable and transparent material. Modulation of the luminescence properties was successfully achieved using a diarylethene photochromic compound, with good resistance to fatigue ca. 22 cycles. Interestingly, the morphology of the organogel fibers was preserved in the hybrid, while a partial luminescence quenching of the nanoparticle was observed. This material could have implication for on-…
Unusual phosphine oxidation: new triazolopyridyl-quinolyl phosphine oxide fluorescent dyes
2015
3-(2-Pyridyl)-[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]quinolylphosphines suffer an unusual phosphine oxidation due to their special geometry that allows a s-donation of the nitrogen (N1) lone pair to phosphorus. This family of compounds behaves as strong fluorophores with high quantum yields.
